The Benue State contingent for the National Festival of Arts and Culture, NAFEST, Sunday morning left Makurdi for Jos, Plateau State, where the one week long event has been scheduled to take place from 21st to 28th November, 2020.
The opening ceremony comes up at the Jos Township Stadium tomorrow at 10 am.
Addressing participants shortly before departure at the Aminu Isah Kontagora Arts Theatre, Director of the Benue State Council for Arts and Culture, Mrs. Monica Shanyo, enjoined participants to put in their best to win laurels for the state.
Mrs. Shanyo stated that the examplary performance and good conduct of the artistes during the festival would ginger Governor Samuel Ortom, who approved funds for participation inspite of scarce resources, to invest more in the arts and culture sub sectors.
She stated that the contingent would participate in both competitive and non competitive events including the opening ceremony, Ayo, indigenous coral rendition, visual arts exhibition, children's arts and crafts, indigenous fabrics, essay writing, cultural quiz, traditional cuisine, and roundtable on entrepreneurship.
The Director who said the council was adequately prepared for the festival expressed confidence that the contingent would make the people of the state proud.
