The Benue State Commissioner for Lands, Survey, and Solid Minerals, Hon. Bernard Aondoaver Unenge, has assured people of the State that the Benue Geographic Information Service, BENGIS building complex, would be completed at the end of July, 2022 and shall be ready for inauguration by October, 2022.
Hon. Unenge gave this assurance Wednesday when his counterpart, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu, visited the ministry to supervise the building project.
The Commissioner appreciated Governor Samuel Ortom for making the project his priority by ensuring that the finances needed for it are provided as, and at when due
Unenge said Ortom's achievements are everywhere in the State and the impact of the Governor's administration will be felt even long after the expiration of his tenure.
Earlier, the Commissioner, Housing and Urban development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu whose ministry is directly supervising the project said he was at the ministry on the invitation of his friend and counterpart, Hon. Bernard Unenge to see the level of work which is at an advanced stage.
The Housing and Urban Development Commissioner who was accompanied by Permanent Secretary of the ministry, commended Governor Ortom and Hon. Unenge for the job well done and expressed optimism that when fully completed, BENGIS will boost the revenue earnings of the State and also tackle issues of land disputes and other challenges associated with land management.
He expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of work as well as the commitment given to the project.
Chief Ogbu thanked the Governor for taking the bold step despite all the distractions and financial constraints and assured of his ministry's commitment to the success of the project.
On his part, Project Manager BENGIS, Mr. Mario Bajouk, assured that with the support of Governor Samuel Ortom, the project will be completed and commissioned at the given time by the state government, since all the challenges that were hitherto experienced had been overcome.
He disclosed that, the BENGIS project is technologically based as Land administration in the state is now digitized even with the operation in a temporal office.
Mr Mario Bajouk added that a lot has been achieved on the project as all the needed equipment has been deployed for operations, and that aerial photography and mapping of the entire state have been completed, in addition to sustain training of staff.
