While observing that insecurity was not peculiar to the state, the chieftain of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, argued that the spate of killings, insurgency, herdsmen and farmers clashes, arising from the menace was higher in the state than other parts of the country.
Chief Ogbu who was reacting to questions from newsmen in Makurdi at the weekend regarding the inauguration of the new outfit by Governor Samuel Ortom at IBB Square, lauded the Governor for the initiative and saluted the gallantry of the guards, charging them to be law-abiding and devoid of tendencies capable of breaching the peace in the state and beyond.
He enjoined citizens to be security conscious as according to him security was everyone's business and urged Benue people to take advantage of the establishment of the guard by reporting security breaches and suspicious circumstances to the new personnel for onward actions.
