The Benue State Chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed rumours linking it to Governor Hyacinth Alia or suggesting that the party serves as a fallback platform for him ahead of the 2027 elections.

In a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Hon. Stevie Ayua, the party described the claims as false and politically motivated, stressing that the ADC in Benue State operates independently and is not receiving any funding or support from the governor or the state government.

Ayua said all the party’s activities — including its July 10, 2025 unveiling in Makurdi, grassroots mobilization, and membership registration across local governments — are financed through voluntary contributions by dedicated members and stakeholders.

He emphasized that the ADC is not a refuge for politicians seeking temporary political shelter, noting that the party’s ideology is built on integrity, people-oriented governance, and rescuing Benue from failed leadership.

> “We are on a rescue mission to reclaim Benue State and usher in a new era of development and accountability. We will not be distracted by baseless rumours,” the statement added.
