Agbese died today at the age of 81.
A distinguished media icon, Dan Agbese hailed from Apa-Agila in Ado Local Government Area of Benue State, and was widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s finest editors, celebrated for his sharp intellect, fearless journalism, and unwavering commitment to truth and national development.
In a statement issued on behalf of the organization, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of TRUEPOINTNEWS, Patriot Nelson Ogbu, described Agbese’s death as “a monumental loss to journalism, Benue State, and Nigeria at large.”
Ogbu praised the late journalist’s legacy of integrity and professionalism, noting that Agbese helped redefine investigative journalism in Nigeria through Newswatch, which set new standards for bold, ethical, and socially responsible reporting.
