The Forum of Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) to Governors of the North Central States has inaugurated its National Executive Members, declaring strong support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 and pledging to mobilise grassroots backing across the region.
The inauguration ceremony, held yesterday, brought together SSAs from Benue, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi, Niger and Plateau states, alongside political leaders and stakeholders, marking what participants described as a strategic moment of unity and political coordination ahead of the next general elections.
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the Forum said the inauguration was more than a formal ceremony, describing it as “a declaration of unity, purpose and readiness” to strengthen governance and advance the interests of the North Central region and Nigeria at large.
He said SSAs occupy a strategic position in governance as the bridge between government policies and the grassroots, noting that their responsibility was to translate the vision of elected leaders into tangible impact for ordinary citizens.
Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, the Chairman said the North Central must remain united and politically organised to support President Tinubu’s re-election, stressing that the President’s ongoing reforms require continuity to yield lasting results.
According to him, the region is already benefiting from key federal interventions under the Tinubu administration, including major road and infrastructure projects across Benue, Kwara, Niger, Nasarawa, Kogi and Plateau states, as well as enhanced attention to security challenges.
The Chairman also commended the governors of the six North Central states for aligning with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and delivering visible projects, while appealing for greater institutional support to the forum, especially in the areas of mobility and office accommodation across states and local governments, noting that “the race to 2027 has already begun.”
Patron Pledges Support
Speaking at the event, the Patron of the forum and Deputy Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims, pledged his full support for the SSAs in their quest to mobilise support for President Tinubu’s re-election.
Rt. Hon. Halims described the forum as a critical political structure that must be empowered to effectively engage the grassroots, adding that SSAs play a vital role in consolidating the gains of good governance.
He highlighted what he described as the “numerous achievements” of President Tinubu across key sectors, including economic reforms aimed at stabilising the economy, renewed efforts to tackle insecurity, improved social welfare interventions, and strengthened Nigeria’s diplomatic profile on the global stage.
The Chairman, in his closing remarks, paid special tribute to Rt. Hon. Halims, describing him as a patriot, a lover of democracy and a major pillar behind the success of the forum, and thanked him for his quiet and consistent support.
The occasion paraded major stakeholders from the North Central geopolitical zone including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume who was represented by Dr. Francis Tyokase, Governor of Benue State, Rev Hyacinth Alia, represented by the Director General Plenipotentiary and Liaison Affairs, Dr Jimmy Ajim, Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr Sule represented by his Special Adviser, Aljhaji Safiyanu Doma
Other representatives of similar support groups like the Akume 4 Tinubu Support Group 2027 and Progressives Legislative Aides Nigeria, PLAN, also graced the event.
The forum expressed confidence that with sustained organisation and support, the North Central would play a decisive role in the 2027 elections.
