The consensus Benue South Senatorial aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. David Olofu, has officially obtained his nomination form at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja amid overwhelming support from party stakeholders and supporters across the Benue South Senatorial District.
The event attracted hundreds of party faithful, youth and women groups, traditional dancers, and supporters from across party lines, creating a carnival-like atmosphere within the nation’s capital.
The massive convoy and procession of supporters reportedly caused major traffic gridlock in parts of the Abuja metropolis as enthusiastic followers accompanied the aspirant to the venue chanting solidarity songs and displaying banners in support of his ambition.
Among notable political figures present were the Secretary of the Benue State Leadership Team of the ADC, Prof. David Salifu; the Benue State Chairman of the party, Rt. Hon. Samson Okwu; the Deputy Chairman, Zone C, Mrs. Abeje Egwa; alongside prominent party leaders including Sir John Ngbede, Chris Adaba Abah, Morgan Okwoche, Abba Adaudu, Peter Adejor, and Adakole Elaija.
Also in attendance were members of the State Executive Committee of the party, the nine Local Government Party Chairmen from Benue South, aspirants vying for various elective positions under the ADC platform, women and youth groups, as well as cultural troupes who entertained supporters during the event.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the nomination form, Dr. Olofu appreciated party leaders and supporters for their solidarity and confidence in his aspiration, assuring them of inclusive representation and people-oriented leadership if elected.
“We have picked the form. In fact, we are the first to be issued the form and, therefore, I believe that during the election, we are going to be the first to win,” he said.
The senatorial aspirant further pledged to prioritize the welfare and security of the people of Benue South through innovative strategies and effective governance.
“We will uplift our people and tackle insecurity through the provision of intelligence and technology. INEC should remain independent and neutral in the conduct of elections,” he added.
Political observers described the event as a strong indication of the growing popularity and acceptance of the ADC in Benue South ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Analysts further noted that the massive turnout and level of coordination among stakeholders signal increasing unity within the party and could significantly reshape the political landscape of Benue State ahead of the polls.
