The Benue State Action Committee on coronavirus has already made effort in tracing over 23 persons who had close contact with the Benue index case of COVID-19, Susan Okpe.
Also, the entire staff of the private hospital in Makurdi which earlier attended to Mrs. Okpe have being quarantined with government taking full responsibility of their wellbeing.
Benue State Commissioner of Health and secretary of the Action Committee, Dr Sunday Ongbabo who disclosed the above information today, added that the committee was not resting in its oars to nip in the board the spread of the deadly disease.
He revealed that when the news of the escape of one of the nurses that attended to the index case got to the Committee, arrangements were quickly made and covert team was sent to a far away local government area where the lady was hiding and she has since been brought to Makurdi and isolated.
While giving update on the present location of Susan Okpe, the commissioner disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Health wrote to the Committee requesting that the patient be transferred to Abuja, and the Committee obliged.
He however, encouraged Benue citizens to fully observe preventive measures of the virus; social distancing, washing of hands and proper hygienic and sanitary practices which he hinted was the only way to go in the face of the global health crisis.
