PROPOSED FEDERAL COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE, AGILA RECEIVES MASSIVE BOOST

(TRUEPOINTNEWS) Pursuant to the objective of facilitating the smooth takeoff of the proposed Federal College of Agriculture, Agila, Ado local government area of Benue State, members of the Land/Community Relations Committee set up by the initiator of the project and member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, Hon. Chief Philip Agbese visited  Agila on Monday to meet with traditional rulers and community leaders from the area as well as inspect various facilities, and lands that could serve as the school takeoff site, the permanent site and outstations such as guest houses, liaison office and temporary students' hostel.

It was a heartwarming visit as the Committee received enthusiastic support from the traditional rulers and the people of Agila.

The 7-man Committee led by the former chairman of Ado local government council, Chief Otse Otokpa had fruitful discussions with the Ward Head of Apa-Agila, Chief Moses Obande, and members of his traditional council as well as with the Ochonu Agila, Chief  Emmanuel Orinya, and the Agila Traditional Council.

Both councils together with community leaders from Apa-Agila and Agila Ifuole pledged their total support to the establishment of the school and commended Chief Agbese for attracting such an important institution to their area. 

Speaking at his palace, Chief Obande as well as the Clan Head of Okpeje, Chief Genesis Ikese, and a youth leader, Onmeje Attah praised the legislative acumen of Chief Agbese and assured him that the entire community would do everything in their power to ensure the smooth takeoff of the school.

Chief Otse Otokpa had earlier briefed them on the proposed siting of the federal college in Agila and sought their support in actualizing the dream of their son, Chief Agbese.

At Agila Ifuole where Chief Otokpa delivered the same message, the Ochonu Agila, Chief Emmanuel Orinya, and the Agada Agila,  Chief Attah Onminyi in separate speeches, assured the Committee of the availability of land and the full support and cooperation of the community in every other thing regarding the establishment of the school. They thanked Chief Agbese for remembering them and prayed for his protection and God's favour over him.

The visit of the Committee followed the  June 7. 2024  successful Public Hearing of the Federal College of Agriculture Establishment Bill by the Federal House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture, Colleges, and Institutions.

Other members of the Committee on the trip were Arc. Dave Ochai, Mr. Gabriel Onmeje, Hon. Benjamin Ikese, Elder Ogaba Ogorry,  Pst. Aboh Otse Okibe and Mr. Otse Oga who represented Mrs Enotse Oga.
