Chief (Barr.) John Ochoga, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has predicted a major electoral breakthrough for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue South Senatorial District, citing the party’s growing influence and the pedigree of its senatorial aspirant, Dr David Olofu.

Ochoga made the assertion on Friday during the Benue South Senatorial District stakeholders’ interactive session with Olofu, where he described the current political dynamics in Zone C as favourable to the ADC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Drawing parallels with the 1992 political landscape, Ochoga recalled that while the Social Democratic Party (SDP) won at the national level and produced the Benue State governor, the National Republican Convention (NRC) secured the majority of elections in Benue South, stressing that a similar outcome could unfold in 2027.

According to him, the rising acceptance of the ADC across Benue South, combined with Olofu’s political profile and engagement with stakeholders, positions the party for significant victories in the district, regardless of party affiliations at the state or national levels.

Speaking beyond politics, Ochoga urged well-to-do sons and daughters of Idoma land to take greater responsibility for the development of their communities, noting that progress should not be delayed until individuals attain elective office.

The Life Bencher and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs emphasized that private investment remains critical to addressing youth unemployment and stimulating economic growth in Benue South.

He specifically encouraged Idoma elites to invest in their hometowns, including building quality residential houses, describing such efforts as catalysts for infrastructure development, economic activity, and community pride.

Ochoga commended the Adoka community in Otukpo Local Government Area for setting the pace in this regard, followed by Otukpa in Ogbadibo Local Government Area, but however, revealed that Apa - Agila in Ado Local Government has now crown it all in the area of physical development endeavors which he said exemplify grassroots-driven development initiatives.
