The opposition party said while the recent rescue of abductees in Oyo State was commendable, similar urgency should be extended to victims still being held in captivity in Kwara, Zamfara, Borno and other parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC expressed concern over what it described as a pattern of selective empathy in the Federal Government's response to insecurity.
According to the party, residents of Kaiama staged a peaceful protest on Friday, July 24, to demand the rescue of the 176 abductees from Woro community, lamenting that more than 170 days after the incident, their families were yet to receive satisfactory information on efforts to secure their release.
The ADC also cited the recent abduction of at least 40 residents, mostly women and children, from 11 communities in Mayanchi District of Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, renewed attacks in the Sankera axis of Benue State, the kidnapping of a Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, and continued insurgent attacks in Borno State as evidence that insecurity remains widespread across the country.
The party questioned what progress had been made in rescuing victims still in captivity and urged the President to provide regular updates on government efforts.
It also referred to President Tinubu's recent assurance that insecurity in Northern Nigeria would soon be brought to an end, arguing that repeated promises without visible results were no longer reassuring to Nigerians.
"The President owes Nigerians more than broad assurances. He owes them regular updates, timelines and evidence that no Nigerian community has been abandoned," the statement said.
The ADC further alleged that the administration had become "remarkably consistent in making reassuring pronouncements but far less convincing in delivering outcomes," describing Tinubu as "a professional statement-maker" on security issues.
The opposition party called on the President to demonstrate through concrete action that every Nigerian life carries equal value, insisting that victims in Kaiama, Zamfara, Borno, Benue and Kebbi deserved the same urgency and attention as those recently rescued elsewhere.
It maintained that leadership should be measured not by public celebrations following successful rescue operations, but by ensuring that no Nigerian is abandoned or forgotten in the face of insecurity.
