As efforts towards prevention and effective handling of any suspected cases of Coronavirus intensify, Benue State Government has commenced training of medical Doctors, Nurses and other health personnel.
Briefing newsmen at the New Banquet Hall of the Benue Peoples House Makurdi where the training session is holding, Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr. Sunday Ongbabo said the global pandemic calls for proper understanding of what it is and how it could be handled effectively.
He stated that the special training of the medical personnel was part of preparedness activities, saying they are special people who come in contact with patients on a daily basis and still go back to mingle with their family members.
Dr. Ongbabo who quoted from the scriptures: "my people perish for lack of knowledge," explained that if adequate training was not done, any health worker that contacts the virus, the spread would be disastrous.
He stated that the training would extend to local government areas to get the health workers properly prepared to attend to any cases of the highly infectious COVID-19.
