Barr Simon Chuzy Egede, MON, was today sworn in as Benue state Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice by Governor Samuel Ortom.
Barr Egede who was until his appointment the most senior Director in the Justice ministry was appointed to fill in the vacuum created by the demise of the former Permanent Secretary, Late Mrs. Christy Anagende.
The Governor who was represented by his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu charged the new appointee to create effective synergy between the directors in the ministry of Justice as well as the judiciary to ensure improved service delivery in the state, stressing that Egede must quickly settle down and lead his team of legal counsels in handling the court cases that have piled up in the state due to the COVID-19 pandemic that forced the closure of the courts in the state.
In a response, Barr Chuzy Egede, who is a former Executive Secretary, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons and other Related Matters (NAPTIP), thanked Governor Samuel Ortom, his deputy, Engr Benson Abounu, and the Benue State Judiciary for the opportunity given him to serve the people and expressed gratitude to the governor for the honour done the Ufia people of Ado local government area and promised to discharge his duties with all diligence.
