Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom says the late Ter Makurdi, Chief Joseph Sule Abenga will always be remembered for his passion for peace and love of humanity.
Governor Ortom spoke today at St. Theresa's Catholic Parish, High Level, Makurdi during a funeral oration in honour of the deceased second class traditional ruler.
He stated that the late Sule Abenga loved and practiced Christianity to the fullest despite his traditional engagements, stressing that he could leave his sick bed to mourn or rejoice with his contemporaries.
The Governor while urging people of the state and Christians in general to prepare for eternity while alife, said earthy life was a vanity which does not lead one anywhere.
Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse, represented by Tor Jemgbagh, Chief Afatyo Ajoko and Tor Lobi, Chief Moses Anagende, in separate funeral orations, eulogised the late Ter Makurdi for his ingenuity in tackling challenges that confronted the Tiv nation, saying he would greatly be missed.
Bishop of Makurdi Catholic Diocese, Most Reverend Wilfred Chikpa Anagbe in a requiem mass, lamented the quick succession in which traditional rulers especially of Tiv extraction were dying in the state and prayed for God's intervention.
He said the deceased was an embodiment of truth, honesty and humility, even as he described death as a mystery which verdict is irreversible, pointing out that death is blind and deaf.
The late traditional ruler reigned from August 2005 until he passed away on June 7th, 2020.
All the speakers prayed God to grant the deceased eternal rest and his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
