The the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki and two other aspirants have been disqualified from participating in the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries slated  to hold in June 22 in the state.

Making known the disqualification at the party headquarters in Abuja, the chairman of the screening committee, Professor Jonathan Ayuba, said only three aspirants were qualified to contest for the primary.
According to the screening committee, Obaseki presented the Higher School Certificate which the panel observed was defective as no such certificate in existence, adding that the National Youth Service Corps certificate he presented did not also have his name written properly.

As a result of the above, the committee concluded that the governor was not qualify to take part in the party primary scheduled for June 22.

However, many party faithful particularly those sympathetic to the plight of the Governor believed that Obaseki travail at the screening exercise may not be unconnected to the face off between him and his estranged godfather and National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomole.

At the time of filing this report, the next political step  expected to be taken by the embattled governor was yet unknown.
