Chief Ekpe Ogbu Gives Account of His Stewardship in The Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

The Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in a news briefing with pressmen at his office on Tuesday said his ministry has carried out a lot of projects within his first year in office, some are completed while others are ongoing. Chief Ekpe Ogbu said that his ministry has carried out ten (10) projects: of the ten focal projects, five (5) in education and health sectors has been completed while five (5) others are on-going. He listed the projects to include the following:
1. Renovation and furnishing of Mama Abayol Orphanage home, Makurdi (Completed).
2. Renovation and furnishing of Special school for Exceptional Children, Aliade (Completed).
3. Renovation, fencing and furnishing of Government Girls Model Secondary School, Aliade.(Completed)
4. Renovation and Construction of New blocks and Landscaping at General Hospital, Gbajimba (completed).
5. Renovation and furnishing of a police station and Fire Service station at Industrial layout, Makurdi (completed).
6. Construction of a model NYSC multipurpose Hall at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Wannune. (Ongoing)
7. Renovation and remodelling of old Benue People's house (Ongoing)
8. Construction of new Ultra model Tortiv's palace, Gboko. (Ongoing)
9. Erosion Control project at the Deputy Governor's Office, Makurdi (Ongoing) and
10. Construction of additional large block of model Prison cell, at the correctional Services, Makurdi (Ongoing).
In his statement, he implore Benue people to keep following the directives of the State COVID-19 ACTION COMMITTEE on social distancing, wearing of face masks and proper hand washing practice.
In his words the Honourable Commissioner said: "It has been one year since I took over as Commissioner for Housing and Urban development of the Benue State Government. Every good servant of the people know that there is a time for planning, execution and a time to give account of one's stewardship. Ultimately, I will be keeping you abreast with the job we are doing in the interest of people of Benue State largely. As it were, it is only fair and just for us to look at where we are coming from, in order that we determine how far we have come. As men of wisdom will say: when a person embarks on a journey, he should stop from time to time to ensure that he has not strayed away from the right path. May I take a moment to thank His Excellency Governor Samuel Ortom for his trust and support to my office. Indeed, despite the international, national and local setback of this pandemic, he has remained focused in making sure that Benue State is making speedy progress in the right direction".
He also expressed the confidence that, going by the performance of Governor Ortom's administration in its first year in office, the state has a bright future. In turn, he appreciated the staff of the Ministry for their cooperation and dedication to duty.
The Honourable commissioner urged the people of the state to keep supporting the administration of Governor Ortom as he makes the best decisions for the overall good of Benue people especially in making sure that the state is secured with his recent community policing policy implementation.
The Commissioner in his statement further said that the projects carried out so far are in line with his determination to building on the programmes and activities of the administration of Governor Ortom with the view to doing more going forward.
