Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Chief Ekpe Ogbu has called for sustained support of the people of Ado Local Government Area for the administration of his principal, Governor Samuel Ortom.
The commissioner while speaking today at Igumale during the official inauguration of the newly elected executive members of People's Democratic Party, PDP, of the area by
the Benue State Working Committee of the party led by its chairman Sir John Ngbede stressed the tireless effort of the Governor to bring democratic dividends to the people of the state despite the harsh economic climate of the country.
He recalled the Governor's strides in the areas of regular payment of workers salaries, construction of rural roads, renovations/ rehabilitation of primary schools, provision of urban/ rural electricity among many others, even as he announced the readiness of his principal to pay the arrears of salaries as soon as possible.
Performing the swearing in ceremony of the local government executive members of the party, the State Legal Officer of the party, Barr Clement Tera Mue said the exercise was in accordance with the provisions of the PDP constitution and disclosed that the newly inaugurated members would be in office for a tenure of four years.
Congratulating the newly sworn-in Council executive members, the Benue State chairman of PDP, Hon John Ngbede stated that the leadership of the party has institutionalised internal democracy by their inauguration
On their part, Ado LGA chairman of the party, Hon Stephen Aluna while responding on behalf of his colleagues pledged to work for the growth of the party in the area while the Executive Chairman of the local government, Hon James Oche assured that the council under his leadership would collaborate with the newly inaugurated party exco to sustain the dominance of the party in the area.
Hon Rose Ameh, who is the State Assistant Secretary of the party and daughter of the soil sued for peace and unity of the people which she argued were necessary ingredients for rapid development.
High point of the event was cultural display by the Ikpirigidi dance troupe and the adoption of Hon John Ngbede as a bonafide son of Ado land and was dressed in Ado native regalia.
