People of Benue South Senatorial District have appealed to other parts of the state to cede the governorship seat to them in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation from Benue South during a visit on Governor Samuel Ortom at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi, retired Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan said for justice and fair play, Zone C should be considered in the 2023 equation.
He stated that just like Zones A & B, there are also capable hands in Zone C to govern the State, stressing that giving the zone a chance would bring inclusiveness and brotherliness.
Elder Morgan appealed to stakeholders of all political parties especially Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and All Progressives Congress, APC to zone the number one seat to the Benue South and also appealed to people of goodwill to support the cause.
Senator representing Benue South, Comrade Abba Moro, State Chairmen of the PDP and APC, Sir John Ngbede and Comrade Abba Yaro respectively, Chairman of Otukpo Hon George Ali, Mrs Comfort Agogo and Obande Gideon, all corroborated the lead speaker and appealed for support.
Governor Ortom in a response, urged the people of Benue South to consult well and get the confidence of all parties to cede the governorship to Zone C, saying they should also pray and ask God for direction.
The Governor said the people of Zone C were qualified to lead Benue as Governor, adding that when the time comes he would prefer that stakeholders discuss and get a consensus candidate for governorship from wherever the position is finally zoned to.
