Leaders of the People's Democratic Party, PDP rose from an enlarged leadership meeting Friday night with an assurance that the National Convention slated for tomorrow, Saturday October 30th, 2021 will be hitch free.
Sokoto State Governor and Chairman, PDP Governor's Forum, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal who briefed journalists during a break of the meeting was emphatic that the party is rebuilding to take over the reigns of government in the country.
The meeting of leaders of the party across the country, held at Akwa-Ibom Governor's Lodge, Asokoro, Abuja.
He stated that following briefings received from the Convention Committee, all necessary arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free convention.
Governor Tambuwal said so far, about 85 percent of the National Executive Committee positions will emerge through consensus while leaders are still in talks to ensure same for the remaining positions.
The Sokoto State Governor hinted that more distinguished Nigerians will join the PDP.
He expressed optimism that after the convention, the PDP will be well positioned to wrestle power from the All Progressives Congress, APC and bring Nigeria back to its lost glory.
Former Nigeria Vice Presidents, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Arc. Namadi Sambo, Governors, former Senate Presidents Senator David Mark, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, former governors, serving senators among other leaders of the PDP across the country also attended the meeting.
The meeting reconvened immediately to further take positions on other crucial issues concerning the convention.
