(TRUEPOINTNEWS ABUJA) The Independent Print Media Publishers Association of Nigeria, IPPAN, has called on the Benue State Government, Security agencies and stakeholders from the Sankera area to intensify efforts at securing the release of the kidnapped Benue State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Hon. Matthew Abo.

In a statement jointly signed by the National Secretary, Hon. Ede Ogaba Ede, and National Publicity Secretary, Patriot Nelson Ogbu, earlier today and made available to newsmen, IPPAN condemned his abduction, describing it as "barbaric, senseless and unproductive" and tasked Governor Hyacinth Alia to quickly address the rising rate of criminality in the state especially in the Sankera axis.
While sympathizing with the immediate family, friends and associates of the honourable commissioner over the unfortunate incident, the publishers also urged the state Governor to quickly put in place programmes and policies that will channel the creative energies of the legion of disgruntled unemployed youths of the state into productive use.

Abo, was abducted from his Zaki Biam county home since Sunday 24th September, 2023 by yet to be identified gunmen who have only yesterday placed a demand for the ransom of 60 million naira via a phone call to a relative of the commissioner.
