The Akume 4 Tinubu Support Group has congratulated the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda Goshwe, on his emergence as the new National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Prof. Nentawe was unanimously elected on Wednesday by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling party in what many observers have described as a strategic move to strengthen party leadership ahead of future political contests.
In a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the National Coordinator of the group, Christie Mlan, the group described Nentawe’s elevation as “a bold and progressive step” reflecting the APC’s commitment to visionary, technocratic, and inclusive leadership.
The group noted that Prof. Nentawe’s academic and professional background, combined with his current role as Minister, positioned him as a leader capable of advancing party unity, discipline, and grassroots mobilization.
“His emergence is not only a win for Plateau State, but also a proud moment for the entire North Central region and indeed Nigeria at large,” Mlan said.
The support group also praised the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, for his role in fostering unity within the party and supporting competent individuals for leadership positions. It noted that as a respected statesman from the North Central geopolitical zone, Akume’s satisfaction with Nentawe’s emergence underscores growing political cohesion within the region.
The group pledged its full support to the new APC leadership under Prof. Nentawe and reaffirmed its commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“With Prof. Nentawe at the helm of the APC, we are confident that the party will grow stronger, more inclusive, and remain connected to the aspirations of the Nigerian people,” the statement added.
Prof. Nentawe succeeds the previous leadership at a time when the APC is recalibrating for better internal democracy, national unity, and future electoral victories.
