APC Is Taking Nigerians for Granted: The Case for Integrity and Accountable Leadership

Also Read

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has continued to take Nigerians for granted, displaying a troubling disregard for integrity, accountability, and the suffering of the masses. Leadership is not merely about occupying power; it is about keeping one’s word and serving the people with honesty and responsibility.
Unfortunately, the current APC-led government has fallen short of these basic principles.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while seeking the mandate of Nigerians, made clear promises, one of the most notable being the provision of 24-hour electricity. He went as far as telling Nigerians not to vote for him if he failed to deliver reliable power supply. Today, Nigerians can hardly boast of 30 minutes of steady electricity in many parts of the country. This reality raises serious questions about sincerity, credibility, and integrity in leadership.

A leader of integrity should be guided by his words. Honour demands that when promises made to the people are not fulfilled, responsibility should be taken. Rather than addressing these failures, the APC has resorted to political pressure, allegedly forcing governors to decamp in order to secure relevance and survival through the back door. This approach undermines democracy and insults the intelligence of Nigerians.

True leadership requires accountability. Nigerians are not asking for miracles; they are asking for honesty, transparency, and a genuine effort to improve their living conditions. Even the modest expectation of two hours of stable electricity remains unfulfilled. With worsening hardship, insecurity, and economic strain, it is clear that Nigerians have rejected a government that has failed to keep its promises.

In response to this failure, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has emerged as a credible alternative. Under the leadership of Distinguished Senator David Mark, GCON, an astute, experienced, and disciplined politician—the ADC has provided a platform for selecting candidates of integrity, competence, and compassion. The party represents hope for a leadership that truly understands the suffering of the masses and is committed to people-oriented governance.

Nigeria deserves leaders who are men and women of their word, leaders who value integrity over power, accountability over excuses, and service over self-interest. The failure of the APC has created an opportunity for change, and the ADC stands ready to offer Nigerians a better, more responsible choice for the future.
