The peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akpa district of Otukpo Local Government Area, Saturday formally received new members who earlier decamped from the All Progressives Congress, APC and the All Peoples Grand Alliance, APGA to the PDP at the just concluded PDP zone C decamping rally in Otukpo.
Leader of the PDP in Akpa district, Comr. Abba Adaudu while addressing the expanded caucus of the party at Adankari in Otobi council ward charged all members to treat the new entrants equally in the spirit of love and oneness, stressing that the umbrella was big enough for everyone.
He disclosed that the party in Akpa district has resolved to work for the sole ticket of an Akpa candidacy for the 2023 Otukpo/Akpa State House of Assembly seat and called on every member to channel all efforts towards actualizing the set goal.
On the issues of security and the recently amended law for Community Volunteer Guards, CVGs, by the Benue state government, party members were enjoined to work with the various community leaders to form their own community based security team of five persons each from each village to engage on intelligence gathering that will support the conventional security agencies to rapidly deal with crime and criminality across the area.
On his part, the leader of PDP in Otobi ward Barrister Aba Ejembi who hosted the party in his country home of Adankari unveiled two committees set up by the PDP caucus to ensure a transitional and sectoral development of the people and communities of Akpa district.
The first he said was the Needs Assessment Committee headed by Hon.Omakwu Alfred, with the task of visiting all the communities in Akpa to inquire on the immediate and most pressing needs of every community which would be collated and forwarded to the leadership of the party for further actions within 30 days.
The second was the technical committee headed by Dr. Chris Ngara with Lilian Anyebe and Mr John Ikabokwu as members with the task of prioritizing and streamlining the needs of each community as would be derived by the needs assessment committee for implementation, lobbying and facilitation to help address the infrastructural deficits of the area.

Notable members of the APC from Akpa who reunited with the PDP family were the former PDP State Women Leader, Hon. Mrs. Kate Ommi Eche, former PDP Chairman, Otukpo Local Government, Hon. John Scoti Anyebe, Hon. John Ikabokwu, Hon. Oche' Akpa Ekah and many others. They all expressed happiness for formally rejoining the PDP at their respective ward levels and pledged to join forces for a better future electoral success for the district.
