The Honourable Member Representing Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman of the House Standing Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Chief Philip Agbese has expressed appreciation to the Speaker, Rt. Hon Tajudeen Abbas and the entire leadership of the National Assembly over his appointment as Deputy Spokesman of the house.
In a statement released at the weekend, Agbese stated "is with a profound sense of gratitude that I express my appreciation to the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives, under our amiable Speaker, the Rt Hon Tajudeen Abbas, and the entire Leadership of the House for deeming me fit to be appointed the Deputy Spokesman/ Vice Chairman, House Committee on Media and Public Affairs. It is an incredible honour for me, my family, and my Constituency.
"I am deeply moved by the expression of confidence from the House Leadership, and I am immensely grateful for the privilege to serve my nation and project the image of the House alongside my principal, the Rt. Hon. Akin Rotimi." He added
Giving insight into his new job description, the UK trained Lawyer wrote;
"the job of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs involves listening to the Leadership, translating their agenda and work plans into workable proposals, and building consensus to implement them."
According to the statement "the job also entails understanding the policies and programs of the House; interventions and recommendations to the Executive." But quickly added that the ultimate of them all is to connect the House and its Honourable Members closer to the masses.
While assuring the people of his readiness to record tremendous success in his new task, he however, admitted that his committee cannot do much without the involvement and openness of his colleagues and therefore, appealed for their cooperation.
The statement which was personally signed by the congressman also expressed confidence in the leadership of the10th House of Representatives to surmount the current challenges bedeviling the nation.
