Truepointnews Abuja-Former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), marking a significant development in the country’s political landscape.
The former presidential candidate received his party membership card on Monday in Kano, registering at Gidan Kwankwasiyya, Miller Road, Bompai.
The event attracted prominent political figures, including former Senate President David Mark, alongside Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, Dino Melaye, and John Odigie-Oyegun, all of whom were present to witness the high-profile defection.
Top leaders of the ADC had earlier arrived at Kwankwaso’s residence ahead of the formal registration, underscoring the importance of his entry into the party.
Kwankwaso’s move comes shortly after his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). In a statement personally signed and released on Sunday, he said his decision was informed by recent shifts in the country’s political direction, which he believes necessitate a new path.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the party’s national leader and to represent it in the 2023 presidential election.
